-"FARKADONA" Project

To PPC_T/Farkadona, is a multidisciplinary independent and self-managed group operation which started in 2003.  It is constituted by a series of cultural activities, workshops, processes of interaction with the environment and various urban happenings.  Primarily, the group is focused on Emergency Situations, such as the one in the refugee settlement of the repatriated Greeks of Pontos, in Farkadona, Trikala.  The settlement appeared in the beginning of 1990, as a result of a public, political and peripheral diaspora of the immigrants settled in some secluded refugee camps.  Fifteen years after their settlement, the expatriated residents of the community are still living in containers, under circumstances of deprivation and poverty, alienation and exclusion.

The project’s curator Chariklia Chari states that “Laid on the foundation of the landscape’s and the territory’s concept as a “reception” of the human activity and the combined nature of every cultural action, the PPC_T/Farkadona group explores the ways with which the alienated and excluded communities can possibly integrate into the social environment, the economic, cultural and political existence, developing in such a manner its own dynamism.

The works exhibited are a result of the collaboration of the PPC_T Group with the community’s residents, as well as with other groups and institutions such as the Gamb+I, HEL.L.U.G, Gudran, Cittadellarte, watercollection.net, the Hellenic Ministry for the Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works, etc
