-Performane: "Ouf!"

The performance piece of ceramics artist Hector Mavridis underlines his relationship with a space which in its final result/position, declares the entire process of the creation of an opposite space which is generated through the use of natural materials, such as earth, clay, fire and water, while emphasizing at the same time, on the natural process of the handmade and artistic work.
Our main goal is to ask ourselves if performances of such nature –which take place outside of the artist’s studio– function as an heterotopia, since they are not determined by a particular culture, but rather, by a natural process of our application and attitude towards a natural space, which essentially is social and political.
The ceramist is going to lay a surface of red earth and using two kilns to heat a set of ceramic stone-stamps, he will place them on the earth, in order for a word to be imprinted on the burnt earth.
At the same time, he will “work” on pallets of raw bricks, heating them when the element of water is in complete balance with the flame.
Handmade labor and the way it is recorded in the collective subliminal is an essential element of Hector Mavridis’ work.
During his performance, the artist will offer the viewers the objects that he will create and produce in situ.
