The films ‘Athinai’ (Athens), ‘Kouti’ (Box) and ‘Xenonas’ (Hostel) refer to places where different groups of people reside. A long observation of these places produces a reality where the irrational is often dominant.
In film the ‘Athinai’, the main character is the Railway Station which sometimes devours and at other times loves the people who pass through it. In the ‘Box’, the two main characters are an old lady from Komotini and the silent TV screen which she discusses with. Finally, in the “Hostel” the protagonists of this film are people who have experienced the feeling of confinement for thirty or more years in the psychiatric clinic of Leros and are now struggling to adapt to the urban condition of a hostel mainly utilized by people with mental illnesses.
